Overview
The highlight of winter on the cultural calendar (if you ask me) is already upon us and it's shaping up to be as entertaining and inspiring as ever.
For two and a half weeks over July and August you can indulge in an immense collection of local and international arthouse films, the majority of which have already proven their worth at internationally recognised film festivals. What's more, a lot of them will be screened at the majestic Civic Theatre, which you really can't top in terms of an Auckland movie experience.
In order to help you navigate through the Film Festival booklet, movies have been placed into categories such as Bigs Nights, Aotearoa NZ, Incredibly Strange, Go Slow, Framing Reality and Portrait of an Artist. Even still, there are a lot of films to wade through and all of them have excellent reviews, right? Well if you're after a few recommendations, we at Concrete Playground have put together a list of Ten Must See Films in the festival. You should check it out.
If you like the sound of the endearing Japanese film, I Wish, you can go into the draw to win tickets to it's Rialto premiere on August 16.
