Overview
Concrete Playground has a double pass to give away for Onra's performance at Khuja. Just email auckland@concreteplayground.co.nz with your details to be in the draw.
Friday November 11 will see Khuja play host to one of the industry's best, Onra. Based in Paris, Onra's background is mainly hip-hop, but he draws inspiration from other genres including soul, funk, jazz, reggae, boogie, modern soul, R'n'B, dub, World and prog rock. He first appeared on the collab-album Tribute in 2006 with friend and French producer Quetzal, with a sound that quickly scaled the underground hip-hop scene.
Around the same time he began collaboration with Byron The Aquarius, an American keyboard player from Alabama. Together they released The Big Payback in 2007 . This project featured an eclectic mix of influences including futuristic hip-hop, nu-soul and broken beat.
Listening to a few of Onra's tracks, this couldn't be a better time for him to visit. His sound carves a unique soundscape that absolutely oozes summer. Set in the perfect hip-hop lounge that is Khuja, Onra's visit to NZ is gearing up to be a sweet night of international and local beats.
Local support from Julien Dyne feat Parks Live (BBE/Wonderful Noise), Funkommunity Live band, Side Steps Quintet, Ben Jamin, Shanalog and Zu.
