Opiuo

Futuristic glitch hop from a New Zealander whose talents include not milking his nationality.

Overview

If you haven't heard of Opiuo because no general, garden-variety local newspaper or magazine has as yet made too much of a big deal out of him (finding ways to alliterate/pun his name with some object of Kiwiana, claiming him as 'Our Opiuo', interviewing his mum and other generally creepy Kiwi media behaviour), you're not alone. Opiuo isn't your average Kiwi celebrity person doing well overseas: no one in New Zealand really knows about him.

The not-famous-in-New-Zealand New Zealander has managed to stay off mainstream press while still performing alongside the likes of MC Hammer and Bassnectar and reaching #1 chart positions on Beatport, Addictech, and iTunes. Which in itself is a mark of talent.

In terms of actual musical talent, Opiuo has it by the truckload - creating thudding, bass-heavy futuristic glitch hop which will see you furiously dancing well into the night with a heavy crown of sweat as an accomplice.
