Opossum

Bringing Opossom to life, Kody Neilson (The Mint Chicks) will be joined on stage by Bic Runga in the role of chanteuse and multi-instrumentalist, and former fellow Mint Chick Michael Logie on bass guitar duties. Performances by the band have been receiving rave reviews, from opening Laneway Festival earlier this year – to shows in London. It should be a very special performance at The Lucha Lounge for those quick enough to get tickets (all shows are sold out) or lucky enough to win them. And, Concrete Playground has secured a double pass for one lucky reader. Click find out more for details.

Kody Neilson initially burst onto our music scene with his unhinged, magnetic performances as the lead singer of the Mint Chicks. Now he’s emerged with his own musical project, Opossom, which picks up on the crunchy pop of the late Mint Chicks’ recordings and takes it further into the territory of psych-rock.

Opossom's debut album 'Electric Hawaii' was home-written, recorded and mixed by Neilson himself with just the final mastering courtesy of Howie Weinberg. The album released through Dark Summer Records on 1 June has been described as a unique window into a lively, engaging world of carefully layered sonic layers of light and dark.
