Pastrami & Rye Pop-Up
One of the city's best sandwich joints pops up in the inner city.
Overview
If you're stationed in the inner city and haven't yet made the pilgrimage to Ellerslie's Pastrami & Rye, you're missing out on one hell of a sandwich experience. Taking its cue from traditional Jewish delis, the eatery is regularly touted as the home of Auckland's best sandwiches. Fear not, it's popping up at K' Road's Lovebucket for two days in July.
Pastrami & Rye specialises in New York-style deli sandwiches. Owner Dave Donoghue's pastrami is the result of a five-day brining, smoking and steaming process. The bread is baked fresh daily courtesy of La Voie Francaise down the road.
For the two-day pop-up, the Pastrami & Rye team will be rolling out two classic sandwiches. The Reuben is the main event, featuring the eatery's two namesake ingredients of pastrami and rye with sauerkraut and cheese. The Cuban is equally as impressive with a filling lineup of ham, pork, cheese, pickle and mustard. Get 'em while they're hot at Lovebucket on July 4 and 5.
