Overview

Auckland Live presents Pick & Mix, a free weekly series of family friendly events giving a taste of the stage through a selection of performances and workshops from New Zealand's finest examples of arts and entertainment. This week, Atamira Dance Company introduces the audience to the strength and beauty of contemporary dance as Atamira dancers perform choreography responding to the Maori myths and legends detailed in Manukau's gigantic Pou Kapua statue.

Atamira Dance Company is a passionate collection of dancers, choreographers and designers dedicated to telling Aotearoa's diverse stories through dance theatre, with the company performing their knockout shows for both local audiences and international exhibitions. The company's Pick & Mix workshops will be led by Artistic Director Moss Patterson, who will get the children moving through a series of choreographed exercises aiming to spark creativity and excitement in communicating ideas through movement. These workshops will be fun and physically invigorating for all ages.

Two free performances with Atamira Dance Company in two locations, Friday 17 July, 11.30am at the Bruce Mason Centre and Saturday 18 July, 10.30am at Aotea Centre with free workshops to follow at 12.30pm and 11.30am each day. With no event registration or allocated seating, come and go as you please.
