Overview

The stunning, pensive photo of actor Michelle Blundell pulls your gaze away to what she is looking at. Water, in a glass. Beautiful sunlight streaming through it onto her face. Intrigued?

Pool (No Water) is a piece written by award-winning British playwright Mark Ravenhill who has a skill for cleverly expressing our darker, dissonant human flaws. In this play he does so with the story of a world in which contemporary artists, friends and allies deal with their competitive, toxic and ambitious natures. "Friendships Stretch. Toxic ecstasies entwine. Envy laced with love does not a party make. "

Over four nights in May, an ensemble of six New Zealand actors, Hamish Annan, Amy Atkinson, Michelle Blundell, Katie Burson, Zak Enayat and Grace Goulter, will perform Pool (No Water) at the Basement Theatre. Directed by Amber Liberté this promises to be a gripping and disruptive play.
