What's better than a beer? A beer and a pie (made from beer).
To make that dreamy pairing a reality, European beer brand Carlsberg has teamed up with Auckland café Heaven Scent Food Co. to create its very own take on the humble steak and cheese. The result uses the pilsner, and ingredients of, in every element; the filling of grass-fed angus beef and summer vegetables has been slow-cooked in beer stock, the pastry is made with the same malted barley and there's yeast extract hiding under the emmental cheese on top.
If all that sounds like a bit of you, you'll have four days to wrap your hands around the goods. A pie pop-up window and bar will land in Imperial Lane next week offering a free pie with every pint purchased. The pop-up will run from December 12-15 from 12-3pm daily and from 4-7pm on the Friday. 1000 pies will be up for the tasting.
