Pressure Makes Diamonds
A show that will make you scream "yasss bitch" to the sky.
Overview
You may recognise Laura Daniel as one of the principal characters from TV3's Funny Girls, or perhaps as the leader of particularly on point musical parodies from satirical sketch show Jono and Ben. Either way, she's the one of the driving forces in local comedy. As part of the Basement's Christmas Feast season, the stand-up comedian and actress will bring her show Pressure Makes Diamonds back to the stage.
Originally submitted for her Billy T Award nomination at this year's NZ International Comedy Festival, the show sees Daniel jam together stand-up, sketch, characters, song and confetti in a hour-long spectacle that will apparently make you scream "yasss bitch" to the sky. Following its debut outing Metro Magazine proclaimed, "This rising star can sing like Mariah, dance like Beyoncé, and act like a true drama kid...brilliant performance value."
Pressure Makes Diamonds plays out at the Basement Studio from November 30 to December 3. Support acts alternate between: Alice Snedden and Donna Brookbanks.
