Puppet Fiction

One hour of bat-shit crazy madness.

May 19, 2017

Overview

Anya Tate-Manning, James Nokise and Jon Coddington have teamed up with director Hannah Clarke once again to perform their marionette show Puppet Fiction.

Equipped with 40cm tall puppets constructed by artist Coddington, the stage show recreates the cult-classic movie Pulp Fiction. Originally part of the NZ Fringe Festival in 2012, it won several prestigious awards including Best Production Design, Best Props and Best Death. Fast forward to 2017 and the show has now gained its own cult following and has cut away its fringe strings.

Just as in the original film the puppeteers have to go about recreating scenes that require dancing, kissing and shoot-ups, with hilarious results. Nokise, who is having an incredible year, adds his own personal humour and adlibs that are becoming iconic to his ever-growing fan base.

Described as "one hour of bat-shit crazy madness", these four Auckland shows at the Basement Theatre will run from July 11-15 and should be snapped up quicker than you can say 'blueberry pie'.
