Pure and Deep

How to find meaningful, lasting relationships in a hyper-connected world.

Overview

Dave fell in love with Venus back in '98. She was working at the gym while he was handing out popcorn at the local cinema. Back then there was no Facebook, Instagram or Tinder for that matter. The gap between rich and poor was smaller and considering the impacts of climate change was still years away.

Times have changed but Venus and Dave (played by Mia Blake and Ian Hughes) are still trying to figure it all out. She dreams of opening her own yoga studio and Dave has returned home from London to work as a movie producer. It's been years since they saw each other but when they meet at TEDxAuckland their spark rekindles. A sequel to Toa Fraser's debut play Bare, Pure and Deep is engaging, moving and completely contemporary. It confronts the modern-day dilemma of how to find meaningful, lasting relationships in a hyper-connected world.
