Overview

Don’t fret if you have trouble pronouncing the name of US. hip hop duo Rae Sremmurd. Confusion around the title has spurred a countless number of online discussions and even prompted the group to release a video of people making an attempt along Venice Beach.

Having previously worked under the moniker Dem Outta St8 Boyz, "Rae Sremmurd" is taken from the duo's record label, EarDrummers Entertainment, by spelling it backwards. Composed of brothers, Khalif "Swae Lee" and Aaquil "Slim Jimmy" Brown, the pair first rose to prominence after appearing on a televised music competition. The record label bidding war soon commenced afterwards.

After being the first act signed to respected hip hop producer Mike WiLL Made-It’s Ear Drummer Records, they released their debut album SremmLife, which debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hip Hop charts. Their singles ‘No Flex Zone’ and ‘No Type’, both sporting their youthful vocal style, also sold upwards of one million copies and cemented them as one of the most exciting acts in hip hop.

Rae Sremmurd will play Auckland’s Studio on October 1.
