Overview

Electronica duo Ravines headline this week's Friday night lineup at The Golden Dawn in their debut performance under their new name.

Formally known as Ophelia, the pair made up of Alex Louise and Patrick Shanahan recently rebranded but still maintain their unique electronic sound that mixes synthesised percussive beats with stunning emotive vocals and raw instrumental sounds.

Promoting the first single 'Breathe' from their forthcoming EP, the gig promises a diverse mix of electro and orchestral soundscapes mixed with grinding bass and a rich, powerful Lorde meets Adele vocal that will immerse you in the emotion of their tunes.

Together since 2013, this will mark Ravines third EP, a collection of handpicked tunes, chosen as the pick of the bunch from a full album worth to showcase their best work so far. Their previous EP Invisible has been described as a complex modern mix, combining cool electronic music with chilling and captivating vocals.

With accolades like that and plans to tour NZ this year, I'm confident they'll be soon touted as the next big thing. So best you go see them for a fiver while you still can. Support from Miloux.
