Overview

Running two of the city's best brunch spots, a record label and curating treasured club nights clearly isn't enough for Connor Nestor. Together with good friend Sam Harman, the man-of-action has now jumped into the realm of live music and retail with a new multi-purpose space.

Comprising both a live music venue and record store, REC is set to open at 38 Customs Street East this weekend. The space is the result of endless music based conversations and is "about putting music in the best context for people to enjoy."

REC, otherwise known as Recreation Records, is set to open over the weekend of October 14 - 15 with a loaded programme of events. Energetic jangly-guitar band Cut Off Your Hands will make a rare onstage appearance to christen the space on Friday, October 14. They will be joined by Yukon Era.

The night following, vibes will be creamy as groove-based psych band Scuba Diva takes the stage. Additional performances will come from Wellington neo-goth duo Purple Pilgrims and Eyes No Eyes.

The opening weekend will close out with the Recreation Record Fair on Sunday.
