Overview

Marbecks is one of the reasons we celebrate Record Store Day. Despite a bumpy road on the sales graph, the independent record store celebrates 80 years of residency in the iconic Queen's Arcade this year. The retailers have most recently moved back to their original location in the corner of the Arcade, which allows them to stock an even bigger range of classical, jazz, world, pop, vinyl and arthouse films.

Marbecks has a busy day planned for music lovers this Saturday 18 April. In-store live performances kick off from midday including the sultan of New Zealand indie-pop Lawrence Arabia, delicate folk singer Tiny Ruins and something called Flat White and Long Black. Local acts Princess Chelsea and Jonathan Bree will also show off their prowess on the decks, alongside some guest DJs in the morning.

The store is tight lipped on their exclusive RSD releases but we can tell you that they will be knocking 20% off all vinyl and will have a whopping 70% off some selected releases. Customers will also have the opportunity to pick up a $150 voucher by getting a photo taken with their favourite record and posting said photograph to social media.
