Red Bull Sound Select: Opensouls

Overview

For the next edition of music influencer series Red Bull Sound Select, hip hop collective Young Gifted and Broke will reunite local soul powerhouse Opensouls for a one off performance. And all for the minuscule price tag of $3.

Before disbanding in 2011, Opensouls were a supergroup in their own right. Led by the captivating presence of vocalists Tyra Hammond and Bjorn Petersen and featuring the indisputable production and songwriting talents of Julien Dyne, Jeremy Toy, Steph Brown and Isaac Aesili, the band released two albums drawing on soul, funk, hip-hop and Latin. Despite featuring on each other's solo releases, this will be the first all-inclusive performance from the group in two years.

Joining Opensouls will be YGB affiliates Team Dynamite, Third Eye, Raiza Biza and Eno x Dirty. The day will also feature some of Auckland's most gifted delinquents from the Arcade skate team going head to head in a game of s-k-a-t-e on the half pipe in the courtyard and a BBQ manned by YGB's finest chefs.
