Overview
See Rosebank in a different light through a mulitfaceted art project which is bringing the community together in exciting new ways. Rosebank connects 25 artists, designers and performers with local businesses and community groups who have collaborated to produce work in response to the Rosebank peninsula area.
Rosebank explores the history and environment of Rosebank Rd, site of the oldest market gardens in Auckland. The results of the project have been put together for your viewing pleasure in an artwalk and accompanying exhibition.
Rosebank Artwalk features all kinds of weird and wonderful creations including interactive installations, photography, sculpture, dance and performance pieces. The site specific works and installations focus on the the diversity of the community, business, and unique ecology in the area.
The concurrent exhibition at Unitec's Snowhite Gallery until March 29 offers further insight into the project. On display are maps, texts, artifacts, photographs and video documentation.
A celebration of one of Auckland's oldest localities, Rosebank is a chance to get involved and to learn about this historic community. The project aims to educate people in the belief that through a better knowledge of place, communities grow.
It's all about the community at the moment, so get out and get to know your city Auckland.
