Overview

Come November 8 until 12, Rialto Newmarket will be hosting the Russian Resurrection Film Festival. The festival is in its fourteenth year running and is, according to its organisers, the largest, oldest and most respected Russian film festival outside of Russia.

The fourteen films on show span from old to new, the personal to the political, outer space to intimate settings. On the menu at this year's film festival is arguably Russia's first alien invasion film, Attraction; a historic epic starring Danila Kozlovsky and Svetlana Khodchenskova called Viking; realistic, intimate arthouse drama Arrhythmia; a dissection of love by John Malkovich in About Love; Chukray's political drama Cold Tango; comedy cook-off The Kitchen – The Final Battle; Russian ballet film The Bolshoi by Valery Todorovsky; and Pique Dame, which was inspired by Alexander Pushkin's gothic thriller as a love triangle psychodrama set in Russia's opera world.
