Salad Boys

Teenage nostalgia, melancholic melodies and garage grooves at your local record store.

Overview

Salad Boys are a household name in Christchurch's indie rocker scene. The trio epitomise the No. 8 wire mentality, having recorded their debut album Metalmania and their latest LP This is Glue in bandleader/guitarist Joe Sampson's home studio. The boys are devotees of the physical format, inspired by Joe's involvement in the Bandcamp cassette tape label and music collective, Melted Ice Cream.

The debut album blended timeless teenage nostalgia with melancholic melodies into ten tasty tracks. If the singles released last year are any measure of the forthcoming album, we're expecting a mature garage groove with the addition of bassist Ben Dodd and drummer Ben Woods.

The LP release tour will see the boy visit major centres as well as the likes of Dunedin, Barrytown, Palmerston North and Whanganui. You can groove along to them this Saturday at beloved record store Southbound. It's free but if they strike a chord, pick up a limited edition pink 12" vinyl or CD on the day.
