Overview

Silo Cinema is back in full swing for the summer months, with a special double feature screening of The Endless Summer I & II. When the sun goes down, find a comfortable spot on your picnic blanket and get ready to live vicariously through the early pioneers of surfing and nineties pro surfers.

Arguably the most influential surf documentary of the '60s, Bruce Brown's The Endless Summer encouraged a generation to discover the sport, and instilled a sense of adventure and freedom as the film's young surfers attempt to chase a never-ending summer around the world. The sly sense of humour in the narration and epic surf rock soundtrack provided by The Sandals makes this film ideal for Friday night viewing.

Almost thirty years later, the surf pioneer returned with follow up film The Endless Summer II in 1994. With his own son in tow, Brown illustrates how widespread the sport has become around the world in just three short decades, with scenes from far reaching locations, the development of new equipment and the illustrious pro circuit competitions.

Starting at 9pm and going til late, the films have running times of 95 min and 109 min respectively. Bring a picnic, or grab a bite from the Silo Park Night Markets. Get in early to claim your turf in front of the screen.
