Overview

From Wednesday, February 21–Saturday, February 24, Aucklanders will have the chance to try Wellington's famous fizzy drink Six Barrel Soda. Started by two best mates back in 2012, the no-nasty brand of soda, soda syrups and Seltz Drops was born out of the founders' quest for cocktail syrups that weren't packed with chemicals and loads of sugar, eventually deciding the only way to do so would be to create their own.

Fast forward to now and the Six Barrel Soda team have been creating sodas without preservatives, artificial sweeteners and colours, and in low-sugar varieties, for more than a decade.

The four day pop-up will showcase of some of the brand's best work, with the team serving up samples of Seltz Drops, which add flavour to the humble glass of water. Its Sparkler, a waste-free alternative to whipping up sparkling water in your home, will also be in action.

Six Barrel Soda's spiced orange syrup — made with zero-waste catering company Everybody Eats — will also be available to try, as well as its alcohol-free IPA that's made in conjunction with broadcaster Patrick Gower.

During the lunch rush from 12.30–1.30pm, the team will be pumping out free mocktails: a yuzu mandarin lemonade, plus a raspberry, lemon and blackcurrant drink. On Thursday, February 22, you will also be able to pick up a free doughnut hole from Six Barrel Soda's pals bakery Daily Bread.
