Overview
The annual non-profit Auckland Zinefest celebrates its tenth birthday this year and is returning on Saturday, 20 and Sunday, 21 July. If art, comics, photography, stories, stickers and prints sound like your kind of thing then grab a coffee and head on down to the Auckland Art Gallery.
What the "zine" is a zine though? Short for fanzines, zines are DIY self-published works of art and writing encouraging expression and the ability for artists to spread their ideas. The Zinefest itself brings together 80+ artistic talent along with activities ready to sell, trade and educate others with their zines.
Zinefest is run by volunteers who have a passion for community arts projects and zines. Unfortunately applications have now closed to sell your own but the festival is open to be visited by all.
