Overview

Troubadour rock 'n' roll six-piece Skyscraper Stan and The Commission Flats are en route to Auckland for their second consecutive appearance at the Southern Fork Americana Festival. Fronted by lanky Kiwi ex-pat Stan Woodhouse, a man once described as "wet cement channeling Nick Cave," the group are known for their unique take on the 'Southern Americana' sound, blending observant lyricism with rock 'n' roll and the big band sound of New Orleans.

The Commission Flats consist of Oskar Herbig, Stan's younger cousin, on guitar, Martin Schilov on bass guitar and Corbin Kuhtze on drums. Reb Fountain and Alice Ryan Williams will join The Commission Flats on backing vocals.

The band's debut album Last Year's Tune was released in March 2015. It was recorded with producer Paul Ruske and engineer Richard Stoltz and showcases Stan's trademark observational and autobiographical lyrics over eleven disparate yet beautifully unified tracks.

For their show at Vector Arena's Tuning Fork, Skyscraper Stan and The Commission Flats will be joined by special guests Ravens.
