'Sleigh' at the Basement Theatre
Auckland's favourite annual Christmas comedy show is making its hotly anticipated return.
Overview
The Basement Theatre's much-loved Christmas show making its triumphant return for the silly season with this year's iteration: Sleigh. While previous productions have been set aboard the International Space Station and during end-of-year work parties, this year's event blends the 2004 film Mean Girls and the unique Kiwi summer Christmas Eve mall experience to create a hilarious and high-octane ride.
This year the festive season staple will this year be hosted by a lineup of some of the city's funniest improvisers from Auckland comedy collective Heartthrobs including Brynley Stent (Taskmaster NZ, Celebrity Treasure Island), Alice Canton (Snort) and Rhiannon McCall (7 Days, Snort). As always, there will be a rotating cast of comedians on the lineup and a special celebrity guest — always announced on the night. Previous years' celebrity guests have included Starstruck's Rose Matafeo and even Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern.
The result is a totally unpredictable, fully improved and absolutely hilarious show — with all proceeds going toward supporting our friends at Basement Theatre
The annual Christmas show is the largest fundraiser for Basement Theatre, with tickets starting at $35. Sleigh runs from Wednesday, November 30 until Friday, December 23 — grab your tickets here.
