Overview

A snort is "an explosive sound made by the sudden forcing of breath through one's nose, used to express indignation, derision, or incredulity" per most dictionaries. In this case, Snort is the name of an event where a band of comedians improvise late at night with the aim of getting you to laugh to point of letting out a snort yourself. Well, that's what I'd assume anyway.

While details of what each night entails are low on the ground (the cast cherry picks different formats inspired by those of overseas troupes), a glancing at a snippet of the cast list is enough to make buying a ticket and seeing Snort yourself an imperative:

Rose Matafeo - a Jono and Ben regular and Billy T award winner, Guy Montgomery - co-creator of the cult podcast The Worst Idea of All Time, Joseph Moore - also sourced from Jono and Ben, Nic Sampson -  from Funny Girls and also Jono and Ben, Eli Mathewson - also Jono and Ben and Funny Girls...

You get the idea. These people are paid to be funny on the regular. And on most weeks, special guests from New Zealand and abroad join the cast to perform too.

Head over to the Basement Theatre at 10pm on any given Friday and see whether they'll take you past the point of just laughing and into the realm of snort-laughing.
