Overview
Auckland CBD's first urban axe throwing experience, Sweet Axe Throwing, opened last year in the bullseye of the city at 110 Nelson Street. It has since hosted everything from birthday parties to team building experiences and social league nights.
This week, the axe-perts are opening their doors to teams of two for the Sweet Axe Date Night. Sweet Axe will teach you everything you need to know about the art of axe throwing before kickstarting a round-robin tournament where partners play off against other in teams of two. The $60 per person ticket price includes two hours of axe throwing, pizza for two and non-alcoholic beverages.
The game is simple and involves a playoff where guests score points by throwing axes at a big target. Wooden targets are set up four metres away and two players at a time take turns tossing axes in the direction of the bullseye. Sweet Axe Throwing suggests that anyone can throw an axe, no matter the fitness level, and that with expert instruction, anyone can land a bullseye safely within one session.
