The 5th Auckland Triennial

The free three-month festival of contemporary art will be the largest to date, with artists working across disciplines to transform Auckland spaces in response to the exhibition theme. If you were to live here... is relevant and thought-provoking, inviting artists to comment on the changing nature of our city and to open up conversations around how we live and interact with this particular environment.

Overview

The Auckland Triennial tops the list of New Zealand contemporary art exhibitions. Ten artists and collectives from around the country, along with around 30 international artists, will present their work on If you were to live here …, the title and theme of the 5th Auckland Triennial.

Curated by Hou Hanru, one of the most influential curators in the world today, the Triennial is an opportunity for discussion, the exchange of ideas, collaboration and connection with different partners and communities. Nine venues across the city will be taking part, hosting artist talks, performances and panel discussions. Auckland Art Gallery will be home to The Lab, the heart of a series of collaborative projects challenging and reinventing local architectural culture.
