Overview

If international comedy is more the taste that satisfies your cravings, The Big Comedy Show is an event sure to deliver - regarded as one of most liked shows across the festival. In the two-hour show, a lineup up of six comedians will take the stage from all corners of all the world. The show's venue, the Auckland Town Hall's concert chamber, renamed 'Comedy Chamber' for the duration of the festival, hosts cabaret style seating and is widely appreciated as a prominent location for predominately cabaret performances.

This year The Big Comedy Show features Ismo Leikola from Finland in his New Zealand debut who in 2014 was awarded the revered 'World's Funniest Comedian' from the Laugh Factory following a global online search by the USA comedy chain. Canadian/Filipino Ron Josol rose as fan favourite off the back of his Pacific ring pro comedy tour and will be joining the lineup as well as popular Brit, Rich Wilson. Rich returns to New Zealand following the success of his shows at the NZICF in 2015.

UK sensations Jimmy McGhie, George Egg and Angela Barnes will be making the trip to New Zealand to enthrall audiences with their clever comedic routines and individual specialties. Jimmy McGhie, once described as "tediously handsome" joins George Egg who never fails to showcase a full range of acclaimed comedic abilities. After a successful bid at the 2015 Edinburgh Fringe, Angela Barnes completes the lineup of excellent comedic geniuses ready to have you splitting at the seams.
