Overview

Do you know Tim Burton had 40 squirrels trained to crack nuts for the film Charlie & The Chocolate Factory or that in every Pulp Fiction bathroom scene John Travolta appears something bad happens?

Ok, so maybe this is more like pub quiz trivia than the kind of stuff that those of you in the film industry would call meaningful and inspirational information. Luckily for you that’s why events like the Big Screen Symposium exist.

A must attend for directors, writers, producers, musicians, actors, film students, distributors and technicians, New Zealand’s filmmaking event of the year is nearly upon us. Just think; two jam-packed days of debate, discussion, workshopping and inspiration with industry legends like the Academy Award-winning producer of the two highest grossing films of all time, Jon Landau. Yes that’s right, the man who produced Titanic and Avatar is on his way to Auckland and you have the opportunity to sit just meters away from him, hanging off his every word.

This year’s theme is ‘Strengthening our Collaborative Spirit' so get some rest in the lead-up, this is going to be a symposium you’ll want to get stuck in to.
