Overview

What does it mean to be brave in New Zealand today?' That was the question Massive Company posed in 2012 with their hit play The Brave. Though their stories may have changed, the group’s question still remains.

This play gives voice to a new generation of men finding strength through family, love, loss, fear, hope, belonging and brotherhood. The eight men read aloud letters they have written to important people, who still are, once were or never were in their lives. In this reworking each performer discusses how their lives have changed and what is relevant to them 12 months on.

This intimate and dynamic play confronts the fallacy that men can't talk about their feelings without trivialising how difficult it can be for them.
