Overview

The Cult Project is an all-inclusive supper club with a philosophy of tradition, sharing and low waste. Founded by chefs Carlo Buenaventura and William Cook, the novel way of dining first appeared in 2016 via several pop-ups across Auckland, taking influence from the pair's heritage; Carlo hails from the Philippines while William is from the UK.

For the supper club's next pop-up Chef Carlo will take the helm at Culprit to showcase more of what it's like to be a Filipino cooking in New Zealand. Using his cultural background, food memories and upbringing in southern Philippines, Carlo will cook with recipes from his late father and grandmother while mixing in more contemporary inspiration from the season and surroundings.

Carlo will bring his fresh take on SuTuKil, a southern Philippines style of eating where diners typically pick the food they want to eat and how it's cooked. It is derived from three Cebuano words: sugba - grill, tuwa - boiled and kilaw - fermented. The Cult Project's one-off meal at Culprit will consist of three sharing courses plus snacks.
