Overview

Two of the most treasured elements of Kiwi rock 'n' roll will combine on Friday night as The Datsuns take the stage at the Kings Arms Tavern.

Once hailed by NME as "The best live band on the planet", the four-piece from Cambridge are now based as far and wide as Stockholm, London, and Wellington, so it is not all that often that they manage to get together for a show in Auckland. The last one was in 2014.

They come to Auckland off the back of shows in Japan and just before a big gig down in Wellington for Homegrown. Don't be concerned about the date, this is no April fools stitch up.

The boys have also been working on the finishing touches for their as yet unnamed LP. In the meantime they have released a new video for the track 'Claw Machine' from their last album, Deep Sleep.

The video for 'Claw Machine' was made by Sam Kristofski who reveals, "I wanted to make something that has a '70s low budget film aesthetic to it, so I used older expired 16mm film and older lenses to give it a timeless look and feel, and shot in a rough amateur style. The story is about a car that is demon possessed and used sheep blood as its main source of fuel."
