The Dickies

Every show is not only a concert but a bonafide comedy routine.

Overview

Bubble gum punk pioneers The Dickies are making their very first trip Down Under, playing at Bodega on April 25. The punk genre might’ve taken the back seat in the music industry, but The Dickies have managed to maintain a dedicated fan base - maybe because of their music, maybe because they’re insane on stage.

Formed back in ’77, their biggest hit was a punk-inspired remake of the kids’ show The Banana Splits Adventure Hour’s theme tune called “Banana Splits (Tra la la song)”. Since then they've had a few other hits, "Waterslide," and "I'm a Cholo" amongst them, and even done the soundtrack for horror flick Killer Klowns from Outer Space. But they’ve gone through their share of tough times, including many substance related incidents, health issues, and unfortunately deaths, but the band still has two original Dickies standing, Stan Lee and Leonard Grave Phillips, and they are just as crazy as ever.

The group has been known for crazy stage antics. Giant clown costumes, inflatable dolls, and phallic puppets are amongst the best of their favourite props, so here’s hoping they bring them over on the plane for what promises to be a crazy night.
