Overview
There is nothing like hearing poetry read aloud. The Divine Muses, which was founded in 2004 provides an opportunity to hear leading New Zealand poets read their own poems. These readings take place on the evening of National Poetry Day under the beautiful glass dome at the Gus Fisher Gallery.
This year’s poets include Peter Bland, Riemke Ensing, Siobhan Harvey, C K. Stead and Albert Wendt. The MC for the night is the poet Rosetta Allan.
To close the evening the winners of the Auckland University Press and Divine Muses New Voices: Emerging Poets Competition will be announced. Each winner will then be invited to read a poem.
