Overview
Tucked away in a beautifully isolated part of Aotearoa is Lyttleton. It has long been considered the capital of New Zealand's folk and country scene and The Eastern are the band at its heart. This rambunctious band of raconteurs have been kicking up dust on stages up and down the country coming on ten years. They are best known for their 2012 record Wire and Gold and have opened for Fleetwood Mac and Old Crow Medicine Show. Performing as part of The Tuning Fork's Southern Fork Americana Fest on 13 October, they will share the stage with introspective singer-songwriter Emily Fairlight. Like The Eastern, Fairlight has been performing for over a decade across New Zealand, the USA and Australia. She recently released her sophomore album Mother of Gloom. Recorded in Austin, Texas the album has been praised for its elegant, economic songwriting and evocative, visceral vocal delivery and instrumentation. Tickets available through Ticketmaster.
