Overview

The New Zealand Dance Company presents a unique four-night show opening 29 June at the Bruce Mason Centre. The show's artistic director, Shona McCullagh, will bring the work of three choreographers together covering themes like the seasons, the southern sky and time, presented to coincide with Matariki.

Korean choreographer KIM Jae Duk presents the first piece: Sigan (time). It presents a dichotomy of themes around mediation and attack, and is scored with the help of traditional Korean instruments. The second piece comes from acclaimed Kiwi choreographer, Sue Healey, and is entitled: The Seasons Retouched. This focuses on ideas of changing seasons, and is set to Recomposed a piece by Max Richter, played live by the Blackbird Ensemble. Last comes a work by Stephanie Lake entitled: If Never Was Now. The piece is a unique and urgent piece that reflects the beauty of the natural world.

These shows include opportunities to meet the New Zealand Dance Company and attend workshops and pre and post-show talks.
