Overview

Unholster your camera, on Friday, November 2 guerilla photography exhibition Paper Pirates is back and contributions for the exhibition are open to the public until October 24.

Run by fictional photographers Tim and Joe of the blog The Shutter Pirates, the exhibition is designed to inspire image capturers from all walks of life and in particular the under dog. Happening across a single evening in a house party like atmosphere, The Shutter Pirates paste the work up while end of night attendees tackle a favoured piece to takeaway.

Although still in its early stages (the exhibitions maiden voyage occurred in May this year) Paper Pirates has the ammunition needed to become Auckland’s iconic self-serve photography event. Word is, Tim and Joe are hard at work collating a magazine featuring the paramount photographs from the Paper Pirates inaugural show.

Whether you're interested in exhibiting alongside 50 or so unnamed and budding photographers, or attending with the intention of slipping off into the night with a new slice of bootlegged art under your arm, this reoccurring exhibition is one to keep a sharp eye on.
