Overview

The dictionary defines metamorphosis as 'a process of transformation', and perhaps this is what will become of those that attend this session? Or not, but maybe that's the point.

As part of, and in celebration of Matariki, Maori New Year, the Basement Theatre and host, comedienne/actress Donna Brookbanks brings us #39 in The Watercooler series with an exploration into the theory of self-metamorphosis. Delivered through the words of Ahi Karunaharan, Zechariah Soakai and Jacque Drew, the trio will share personal journeys of metamorphosis with the audience as they reflect upon, and dissect them for all to witness and comment on.

Inspired by the worldwide hit podcasts, The Moth and This American Life, The Watercooler series was created in 2013 as a platform where people from all manner of backgrounds come together to share stories, pose questions and discuss topical social, political and economic issues. Inspired by a monthly theme, the participants are encouraged to share their own life stories, or alternatively, create entirely fictional experiences.
