Overview

There's definitely no shortage of ways to sample wine in New Zealand. As a way to prove that there's more to vino than big Trans-Tasman brands and varietals that you find in the supermarket, a certified wine expert is hosting an event to showcase all the main wine producing nations on the planet.

The global wine tasting event, The World of Wine Festival, will be held from May 12-13 at AUT's City Campus main foyer. For the inaugural event, organiser Connal Finlay has teamed up with leading wine importers from around the country to ship in over 140 wines from over 14 countries — sans Australia and New Zealand.

Tickets will offer unlimited tastes of all of the international wines on show, plus a free wine glass. The wine bar will be showcasing rare or limited runs of wines by the glass. Food for the event will be specially designed by contemporary Chinese eatery Judge Bao and Italian restaurant Pasta e Cuore.

A range of masterclasses will be available for punters to explore new and exciting grapes and wine regions. Leading wine experts and winemakers from around the world will fly in to host these classes, which include: 'New York Wines' and 'Georgia: The Birthplace of Wine'.
