Overview

The Auckland Zoo's inviting you to have breakfast with tigers to help fundraise for tiger conservation this weekend. From 7:30am until 10am punters can enjoy a hot breakfast alongside the tigers (also having theirs), and learn about the critically-endangered big cat. Guests will also be treated to a special cheetah and serval encounter.

Today there are less than 4000 tigers in the wild, with habitat destruction, poaching and habitat fragmentation the major causes of the species' population decline. Tigers currently occupy less than 1,184,911 km2, a 41% decline from the area estimated in the mid-1990s.
