Uenuku — Pride at Auckland Museum
A panel discussion celebrating the milestones of inclusion for LGBTQI+ communities.
Overview
As part of Auckland Pride Festival 2020, Auckland Museum will be hosting Uenuku in the grand foyer from 6–8.30pm on February 10. The evening will start with a panel discussion, moderated by actor and political satirist Thomas Sainsbury.
The panel will feature Louisa Wall, Welby Ings, Ngahuia Te Awekotuku, and Tanu Gago discussing and celebrating the milestones of inclusion and exploring "where to next" both locally and globally for LGBTQI+ communities and whether there is an ideal that the rainbow community should aspire to in the future.
After the panel discussion, there will be a screening of Welby Ings short film Sparrow, the touching story of a small boy who is teased because he thinks he can fly.
The museum cafe will be open on the night with Hãhã wines, McLeod's beer and a range of non-alcoholic options available for purchase, as well as a selection of snack and platter options which can be purchased on site or in advance via the Museum booking page.
Tickets are $25 each and door sales are $35 unless sold out previously. The museum carpark will be open for use.
