Van She

Sure, you'll be rubbing shoulders with dudes in Hawaiian shirts with strategically rolled sleeves, done up buttons, camel chinos, stripey socks, boat shoes and glasses with no lenses, but trust me, it'll be worth it.

Overview

If you've seen the video to 'Idea of Happiness' by Van She, you'd have to agree that for one, that sh*t is weird, but two, those Sydney siders sure know how to throw down a catchy beat. Even our in-house music curator thought so, featuring it on last month's list of the best hits of 2012 so far.

Van She are heading our way on a tour of their  forthcoming sophomore album, also titled 'Idea Of Happiness'. With a sound that is practically levitational, I'd urge a listen to the full album. The tracks are a nod to tropical, uplifting rhythms and their use of fluid synth bass is signature Summer. I've already pinned this gig as one I'm most looking forward to for the second half of the year.

To sweeten the deal the early bird tickets are $15. I mean sure, the gig will be a bit of a hipster magnet, but honestly, 15 bucks for a night of freshly minted tunes and a guarantee of an entertaining show? That's totally worth moshing with a crowd that oozes so much cool that it's not cool that it's cool again. Ooosh.
