Overview
In line with their latest exhibition, Volume: Making Music in Aotearoa — an interactive exploration of seven decades of New Zealand music — the Auckland War Memorial Museum has announced the Volume Sunday Sessions.
On the last Sunday of the month for the remainder of the exhibition, a selection of talented musicians will assemble in the Museum's atrium for free performances— covering everything from modern jazz to psychedelic pop, otherworldly hip hop and indie fuzz.
The first event in the series will kick off on January 29 with Goodshirt member and multi-instrumentalist Gareth Thomas. He will be joined by folk artist Graeme James and singer-songwriter Ciaran McMeeken. The series will come to and end alongside the final day of the exhibition on May 21 with full-noise performances from indie-pop band Dictaphone Blues, nostalgic rock band Shakes and country-pop artist Dave Weir.
