ATTN: City Explorers and Those with a Penchant for Free Things
White Night is back. And just like about every other event or festival this year, it's going to be bigger, better and busier than ever (really though).
From 6pm until midnight on 14 March, more than a hundred Auckland locations – galleries, laneways and other spaces, will be dotted with creative things to experience, for free. Art on show includes Andy Warhol collaborator Billy Apple’s The artist has to live like everybody else., a Java Dance Company performance inside one of the free busses and a multiplatform art collection by Serj Tankian, Kody Nielson, Bic Runga, Boh Runga and Shannon Novak.
Seriously though, there will be a huge array of performances, art, installations and other surprises taking place all over Auckland. Whether you live on the shore, out in the eastern ‘burbs, down south or amongst native bird song in the west, something exciting will be happening nearby on the eve of 14 March. There will even be free buses made available, to take you across from one end of our sprawling city to the other.
The only downside: You will only have six hours to enjoy the magic happenings of the night, so it pays to come prepared with a plan of action. To help with the task, very helpful web app has been put together for your, so you can map out the course of the evening and make sure you don't miss any of the gems.
