Overview

Silo Park is excited to announce a mini festival of sights and sounds from all four corners of the globe featuring Nick D and Dick Johnson's Weird Together - World Together – taking place at Silo Park as part of the Silo Sessions.

From midday ‘til 6pm come down and enjoy this free, colourful and vibrant musical event - as well as the licensed bar, foods of the world, markets and silo climbs.

'Weird Together' is the new studio and live project from Dick Johnson and Nick Dwyer, spurred on by Nick's love of exotic musics and crazy sounds from all far corners of the globe, and Dick's love of taking said sounds and moulding them and sculpting them into solid grooves that make people wanna dance lots.

After years of mainly late night / early morning "yeah, let's make some music together, sounds like fun" - the boys finally did it, and after a particularly inspirational session with some old Ethiopian Jazz records 'Weird Together' was born.

A couple of years passed - Dick became a cycling champ, and in-between the ADD and off gallivanting round the globe, Nick got a bit side-tracked. But toward the end of 2011 a pact was made, and they decided to go at it proper with the aim of launching a full live show. Teaming up with a wide range of different musical folk who come from all over the world the boys have been busy in the Red Bull Studio's recording Caribbean Steel Pan Orchestras, Burundian Drum Ensembles, Sudanese Vocalists and Ghanian Master Percussionists and that's just the beginning.

'Weird Together' promises to be an explosion of sounds and cultures never seen before on stage leaving no far-flung musical stone unturned. Expect the first fruits from the Red Bull Studio Sessions to be heard over summer and of course gearing up to the 'Weird Together' debut at Splore 2012. Shits gonna get Weird.

Weird Together: World Together will feature Nick D & Dick Johnson, Yaw Boateng (Ghana), Karima Madut (Sudan), Mavs Adegbite (Nigeria), The 'Not-So-Trini' Steel Pan Allstars (Trinidad, Italy, Manchester) and The Balkan Brass-Master Boris Kalashnikov.

Also performing will be The Burundian Drummers (Live), Mhara Marimba (Live), Boycrush (Live) as well as DJ's Hopepa and Uncle Barnie and The Around The World in 80 Tunes World Music Jukebox!

Rain Day: Sunday 1 July 2012.
