Following rave reviews and sell-out screenings in New York, London, Munich and Melbourne, New Zealand filmmaker Kate Clere returns home for an exclusive presentation of her documentary Yogawoman.

Narrated by Academy award nominee Annette Bening, filmed in nine countries and featuring fifty of the world’s leading experts in the field, Yogawoman explores how yoga has transformed the lives of millions of over-stimulated, multi-tasking modern women. In personal interviews, women around the world reveal how yoga has helped them face conditions like breast cancer, infertility, anxiety and depression, given them strength to recover from abuse and eating disorders and helped them through pregnancy, motherhood, and menopause.

Audiences are introduced to top teachers, many of whom have become worldwide icons within the yoga community. These include Patricia Walden, Shiva Rea, Seane Corn, Sharon Gannon, Cyndi Lee, Elena Brower, as well as forward-thinking medical professionals such as integrative physician Dr. Sara Gottfried and world-renowned research scientist Dr. Shirley Telles. Yogawoman also features Christchurch yoga teacher Donna Farhi, who is one of the most sought after guest teachers in the world. She has been practising for 35 years and teaching since 1982 and says: “I think yoga is one of the most politically subversive practices that any person, male or female could do in our time.”

This fascinating documentary will be on in Auckland for one night only and an exclusive Q&A session with the director will follow so go along and find out why Yogawoman was named ‘Critics Choice Top 5 Other Films’ in Time Out London, September 2011.

Tickets can be purchased online at eventfinder.co.nz and limited cash sales will be available on the door. For those that can’t make the screening, self distributing DVDs are available for purchase. Go to www.yogawoman.tv to find out more.
