Overview

Zeal is a collective of passionate 'misfits' dedicated to engaging with New Zealand's youth and drawing out their unique creative potential. The annual Zeal Tall Poppy conference brings together speakers from all over the nation, each demonstrating valuable social change in our youth communities.

Shared over the course of the day will be stories, theories on change and practical applications which attendees can take back and activate in their own arenas. In the spirit of the collective, Zeal Tall Poppy focuses on actionable ways we can effect the lives of young people as a community and with autonomy from government and civic authorities in order to make sustainable social change. For anyone working with or on behalf of Kiwi youth, this opportunity to connect with like minded individuals over an inspiring programme and nourishing lunch is not to be missed.

Zeal Tall Poppy 2015 has attracted a profoundly interesting and varied line up of 10 speakers including Nigel Latta, renowned psychologist, author and presenter of eye-opening Kiwi doco The New Haves and Have Nots; Billy Graham, boxing trainer to at-risk youth; Laura Dekker, who succeeded in becoming the youngest person to single handedly circumnavigate the globe; Scottie Reeve, founder of Stories - a social enterprise coffee bar training first time employees and Laura Rapira, co-founder of RockEnrol, an initiative designed to encourage young people to use their vote.
