Overview

Sequin clad, leather strapped, power shoulders and the bluntest black fringe in town - Zowie is New Zealand's quintessential claim to pop culture - with catchy, impossible-not-to-toe-tap-to tunes to back it up. Busting out onto the music scene with the chart topping single Broken Machine, it was clear pretty quickly that her unique sound was going to make waves in the electric music domain. A bundle of talent, the Auckland based 22 year old always knew she wanted to pursue a career in music. From a young age, Zowie trained in everything she needed to equip herself with to make an impact, including drumming, vocals, guitar and programming. The result of this being the perfect distillation of vintage synth-pop, chant like lyrics and rock and roll swag to form a sound she can truly claim as her own.

Opening for Katy Perry earlier in the year, her short curtain raiser performance was described as the most appropriate entree to the international pop star. She's also featured at some big name festivals around the country including The Big Day Out and Rhythm and Vines. So it's safe to say watch this space.

Zowie's show at 4:20 on K'Rd is sure to be a fresh, beat charged, energetic gig and with a wee little $10 door charge it's the perfect way to see in the weekend.
