Game, Eat, Sip: Here's Everything You Can Snack on and Sip at 2024's ASB Classic
Regardless of whether you're a die-hard tennis lover, these bites and drinks might pique your interest — and tempt your tastebuds.
The first day of 2024 isn't just the dawn of another year. It's also the first day of the ASB Classic, Auckland's annual tennis tournament, which will run from Monday, January 1–Saturday, January 13. The tournament is an important stop for many international tennis superstars — including US Open champion Coco Gauff and former world number-one Caroline Wozniacki in 2024 — ahead of the Australian Open, which is held the following week.
Whether or not you're not a die-hard fan, there's two very good reasons to head along to the tennis that aren't the games, sets and matches: the world-class food and drink offerings, all available at the tournament's main culinary hub. Inside The Serve, punters will find a variety of areas, whether you're thirsty, hungry or want a bit of a dance.
For a brew, the Heineken Bar has got you sorted, serving up the original Heineken, its zero-alcohol sibling and the brand-new low-carb Heineken Silver. The bar will also be serving up traditional beer pairings, like fries and tacos. For those looking for something fruiter, Schweppes Social Club will be mixing up cocktail classics like dark 'n' stormy, G&Ts and mojitos. In the same vein, the quintessential summer sip — an Aperol Spritz — will also be available to thirsty punters at Aperol's Serve Up Summer bar.
For a truly indulgent experience, head along Le Jardin de la Maison Mumm, the home of celebration and champagne G.H Mumm at the ASB Classic. Set within a jardin d'agrément (translated to a pleasure garden), lovers of luxury will be served chilled bubbles paired with French-inspired dishes.
Wine lovers will be thrilled to know that Gwen by Church Road will be pouring its drops in The Serve zone, with the brand's 2022 rose, pinot gris and chardonnay on offer. You won't miss any of the action while grabbing a glass of vino, with a big screen broadcasting every minute. For a more low-key option, head to The Stanley, which can be found under the Cross Court Stand. This fully covered area will be serving up delicious cheese and meat platters, as well as drinks.
If you're there for the tennis and the tennis only, you're going to be looking for quick options to grab quickly. This is exactly what The Bach is for, providing sushi, salads, sandwiches and pies.
"Beyond the sidelines, the tournament will also foster a vibrant social scene with attendees enjoying gourmet food, mingling in hospitality areas and soaking the festive atmosphere with music and entertainment," said Tournament Director Nicolas Lamperin.
The ASB Classic runs from Monday, January 1–Saturday, January 13 — head to the ASB Classic website for further details.
