Overview
Wyndham Street restaurant Culprit. has been slinging its brand of contemporary European-style yum-cha for two years now. While the space has previously only be open for lunch on select days, owners Kyle Street and Jordan Macdonald are preparing to launch a new daytime venture in response to the demand of diners.
Luncheonette by Culprit. is the pair's take on classic bistro fare. The ever-changing short-form menu is a celebration of seasonal ingredients. There will be three ways to enjoy the Luncheonette menu during the week: those short on time can choose two courses for $25, diners with the luxury of an afternoon to wile away can go large with three courses for $37, or you could simply mix and match menu items for $12-18 each.
For the first menu phase the pair are plating up smoked kahawai croquettes, a terrine of the day with grilled sourdough and piccalily, Cloudy Bay clams with spaghetti and Marmite butter, and flat iron steak with crayfish butter. To finish, there's matcha panna cotta, strawberry eton mess or a selection of local cheese. See the current menu here.
Luncheonette by Culprit. will run Monday to Friday from 11.30am–2.30pm. Bookings can be made online at culprit.co.nz/luncheonette. Walk-ins are also welcome.
